Using
the "Print Screen" function on Windows 95-2000
The
process is simple but you would probably never find it by accident.
First you must make sure that the image you intend to capture is fully
shown in your screen and that no other windows are open below that (otherwise
the bottom of those open windows will appear instead of the top one you
may intend).
Also make sure your cursor is not in the portion of the screen you are
intending to use.
Next, push the "Prt Scr" button (located near the top right
on most keyboards). You have now "captured" the full displayed
screen image onto your "clipboard".
It can now be "pasted" to any image program. To do this simply
click "Edit" and then "Paste", which should insert
the screen image into your image viewer. Most win systems have "MS
Paint" which will work but I personally use "Irfan View"
which is a great freeware program you can download at: http://www.ryansimmons.com/users/irfanview/
Now all you need to do to get just the part of the image you want
(the explorer bar, the cursor and everything on your screen is captured)
you will need to "crop" the image. If you use Irfan-View or
most other image programs, this is done by simply holding down a left
click on your mouse and dragging the box that appears around just the
screen area you wish to use. Then go to "Edit", cursor down
to "Crop", click it and you will see only the portion you boxed
in. If you make a mistake don't worry just hit "Undo" also located
under the "Edit" function.
Try it. It's fun and will actually allow you to capture images that are
restricted from right click "Save As" image captures.
That's it.
If you need further instruction or have another question, with anything
else we use or feature on the site (or anything else I can come up with
an answer to email me and I will answer it or find out from someone else
or write you a "Sorry" email.
