The Great Alignment Debate

Lawful Good

Lawful Good people believe that the way to foster Good is through justice and mercy. Only within an organized structure, such as a government with a system of just laws, or a pious church, can the true vision of Good prevail. Lawful Good people will actively attempt to foster organizations that bring Good, or creating such organizations when there are none to be had. They are orderly people, and are willing to help other people when the need presents it self, so long as  the person needing help fits their definition of Good. This is a dark side of a Lawful Good nature: self-righteousness. Lawful Gods often believe they have the true definition of Good, and anyone who does not fit their Lawful interpretation of it may be considered Evil. They often mistake a Chaotic nature for and Evil One. (Rock n Roll is of the Devil!)

Lawful Good people join adventuring parties to make the world a better place. They seek to expand the reaches of Good and Civilization. They particularly like mission that involve going out into the wilderness and taming / smashing the evil that exists there. They can work well with people of other alignments, however, the farther they are from Lawful Good, the more likely there is to be conflict. This can be overcome. (Think of Chaotic Good Han Solo and Lawful Good Princess Leia)

Dwarves are the most common examples Lawful Good people.

The basic rules of Lawful Good are:

1) Order and Discipline are guiding principles for life.

2) The needs of society trump that of any individual.

3) The head should rule and control the heart.

4) Support, aid, and protect non-Evil creatures.

5) Defeat and destroy Evil
