+Indicates Double Weapon
“ Can be set to receive a charge
All costs are listed for what Halfling and Gnome laborers charge other
Halflings and Gnomes. Add 20% if any larger race is involved in the transaction.
There are no Reach weapons for Wee Folk. Sorry.
All Wee Folk polearms can also be used for Tripping attacks against larger
foes. See also Weapon breakage.
Dogback Lance: This is a special lance, similar to a human heavy lance
used by Halfling and Gnome riders.
Gnome Glaive: This polearm is both effective and useful, especially in
a hedge formation. Individually, the glaive’s cutting edge can give a
trained combatant an edge over a taller opponent.
Gnome Naginata. This very special martial arts weapon is useful not only
because of it’s razor sharp edge, but it has a reinforced handle and butt
spike make it a lightning fast double weapon.
Halfling Halberd: Like the one the humans use, only shorter. Go for the
shins!
Halfling Ransuer: It’s not a reach weapon, but it can be set to receive
a charge.
Knee Whacker: A claw hammer with a longer handle. Good for prying nails,
too. First invented by a kender who wanted a way to pole vault, pry nails
and defend himself.
Little Lochaber Axe: Aside from being exceptionally sturdy, there’s a
hook on the back of the blade for tripping bigger people and getting stuff
off of the top shelves.
Longbar: A long slender crowbar that has been sharpened at one end. Devastatingly
painful and very utilitarian, but a little heavy.
Long Fork: A two-pronged meat fork on a long stick. Careful, you’ll put
someone’s eye out with that thing! First invented by a halfling chef in
an orc prison camp.
One-Eighth Staff: Half a Quarterstaff, for the little people. Easy to
make.
Pole Flail: Invented out of the need to get over shields. Also ideal for
tripping and disarms. This weapon may receive a +2 to hit an opponent
with a shield and +2 to all tripping and disarm attempts, at the DM’s
discretion.
Short Pike: It’s a spear. Well, for a human. It is only effective as long
as an opponent is on the edge of the 7 foot reach. If an opponent is within
3-5 feet of the wielder, the weapon is ineffective.
Shorter Spear: It’s a gnomish spear. You can throw it, too.
Short Scythe. It’s an adapted farming implement. Isn’t he cute! He looks
like a little Grim Reaper.
While many of these weapons seem humorous, they are actually useable.
While it might have been easier to say, “They all do 1d6 damage,” one
of the best things about polearms is their diversity and usefulness. Note
that many of the weapons above came from common utensils or have other
uses.
Medium sized characters may use these weapons one-handed at a -4 construction
penalty due to the lack of weapon balance and awkward lengths.
