The NPC is at the core of every adventure. What would the game be with only the players and some monsters? BORING!

NOTE: I will be adding NPCs once the site is established and any bugs discovered have been squashed.

Notes on NPC Creation

If I am writing up NPC's I put together a write-up of the NPC so I can be assured that I hae all the required information. The information is presented below (for your cutting and pasting pleasure)
Fill in each section with as much info as you want, it is up to you.
Of course it is a good thing to have some fully fleshed out NPC's hagning around, but as important as they are you need to have some skeletons with only tattereed flesh on them. That way when you are in need of a new plot, take one of the fleshless NPCs and bring it to life.
By waiting to fill in details later on, you are able to come up with ideas that will be tailor made for you needs. If you detail every character before you start the NPCs may not suit your mood, theme, or whatever the players have gotten themselves into (we all know how players can be).

Character Name: The obvious.
Summary: A quick outline of the character (race, class alingment level)
Primary abilities: A listing of those abilities that you may need to remember in a hurry.
Appearance: This is the first thing most Players will notice about a character, include a couple of sentences to be read directly to the players the first time they meet the character.
Personality: A write-up of how he acts and reacts to people and situations.
Family:
  • What is the NPC's family like?
  • How does he relate to them?
  • Does he keep in touch with them?
  • Are any of them resources of which he can make use?

History:
  • Why is the NPC where he is today?
  • Significant events in his life?
  • Motivation? What makes him get out of bed in the morning to face a new day?

Abilities:
  • What is he interested in?
  • What is he good at?
  • What is he bad at?
  • What are his dreams or desires?
  • Who taught him what he knows?

Other Details: Any other details that you haven't covered yet should go here.
The Future:
  • Where do you expect this NPC to go?
  • What are her projects; what research is he doing?
  • What goals does he seek?
  • Which plots do you expect him to get involved in, and how?

Trouble areas:
  • What are his trouble areas?
  • What are his flaws?
  • How can he be blackmailed, beaten, and tricked (by the PCs or other NPCs)?
  • Who knows about these?

People: Here you should briefly detail any major friends, enemies, and contacts he has.
